The appliance is a computer designed intra-oral device that fits most adults without adjusting. It is specifically designed to assist in treatment of snoring.
| Why we snore Snoring occurs because air is flowing through narrow passages that can become obstructed while we sleep. The appliance attempts to prevent this obstruction at its most common site - the back of the throat. The appliance holds the jaw forward, thereby keeping the tongue forward. |
| How to use the Snore-Help Appliance Position the appliance in your mouth between your teeth. The appliance fits much like a dental guard for athletics, but not quite as bulky and hard. |
| What to expect Shortly after regular use of the appliance, expect decreased snoring and a more comfortable sleep. Reductions variable from patient to patient, so ask your health professional to help gauge your progress. To get comfortable with the device we suggest using the device for two 15 minute periods while awake for about two weeks. A good time for this may be during a commute to work or while reading the morning or evening paper. This helps get your body used to the new appliance that will make your sleep more restful - and comfortable for your partner. |
